Midori Describes her Book Wild Side Sex: The Book of Kink : “I love sex. I love to do it. I love to look at it. I love to talk about it. I love to think about it and I love to write about it. I’ve been writing about sex for so long now that, honestly, I had forgotten about how I got started until I started editing this book and tried to remember where it all began. But here’s the story... I was in my mid 20’s. At that time, I wasn’t enmeshed with any of the organized kink communities, but I was an eager visitor to many sectors of the San Francisco sexual underground. San Francisco Sex Information, a free sexual information hotline and resource center, had given me some of the most innovative and thorough human sexuality education available ‘ at 60 + hours of education, I had been exposed to 30 times more sex educator training then most newly minted physicians. This training and my desire to make something of that knowledge landed me a job with a very large sex toy mail order company. As one of my work duties I started writing pithy little sex advice columns in the intracompany filled with product info and merchandise sales tips for the sales people. They weren’t meant for the general public, but intended as little throwaway pieces for a tiny, closed list group. Little did I know that fifteen years later, I’d be traveling the world teaching classes in adventurous sex, and writing about the many things I’ve learned... and about my own personal journeys as well. These writings include my thoughts on sex, observations about kinky people, my personal erotic delights, sweet confessions, illuminations of my darker moments and bits of fun and useful advice that I’ve given my friends. Many of the essays were written for kink magazines, smut publications and people who come to my seminars, so the language is very sexual. Sometimes I use language or vernacular common to a specific community. In putting this book together I’ve tried my best to make minimal changes to the original text, but I have inserted explanations of some terms and updated information. For a few pieces I fleshed out thoughts that were not fully developed at the time of their original writing. Revisiting my old essays was quite entertaining.”
